Hello Beautiful People, I am writing this to tell you all I have learned about my family while I am researching it. As you can see I am a Grimes but I also have lots of other last names in my family tree like Attebery, Nordlund, and Starr. Just to name a few of them. I started this journey to find out more about the missing piece of my family tree that I did not know much about and that is the Starr side which if I go back is on my Mom side of my family.

Before I get ahead of myself I will tell you that researching history of my family using my family’s knowledge and ancestry.com has taken me awhile but it is a never ending process because you will continue to find out new things about your family and it will never end. You think it would but some generations of your family is hard to find the farther back in time you try to research it. Is it fun to find out where you come from? Yes I think so. Is it time consuming to figure out where exactly you are from? Yes it is.

So lets get to it and finding out where I come from. If you can see down below this is just a small portion of my family tree.

If you look at it, you will see me at the far right of the picture. While you are going left you will see my parents, my grandparents, my great grandparents, and my 2nd great grandparents. I could go back more generations than that from what I have learned so far in my tree. But it would not be so easy to read so I just decided to make a chart for five generations. So that you can see my family and those ancestors that have come together to make one amazing family that I love so much and have loved to learn more about. While doing this research I have found more cousins that I did not know I had. Yes, they might be second cousin but to me it doesn’t matter because if it has the word cousin in the name whether it is first, second, third Cousins, I will always call them my cousin. Yes, it could be confusing to some but to me you are my cousin no matter what. That is the same way as my Great aunts and uncles too. I don’t use the word Great when I talk about them. For an example my great Uncle John who is my grandpa Randall’s brother I call him Uncle John when I am talking to my family about him. For many years I have done it this way and I don’t see it changing. It doesn’t matter how many generations you are back from me. You are Family and I love my family.

In this next part I will break done some of the generations in detail not so much detail but a pretty good amount so that you can learn what I have learned while doing this search.

On to my Parents Section

As you can see above, I did not put much in the Great Grandparents section as I did for the Grandparents section because I am still learning about each great grandparent and their families.

On to interesting facts and more Information I have learned that I want to include in this.

I heard from looking at pictures that my mom’s Great Uncle Curt loved photography and I thought that was pretty cool because I am majoring in Digital Photography in College. I also had a lot of family members that served in the military, which is pretty cool to me, I think. I think I saw some serving during the Civil War, Revolutionary War, and some of the other Great War we have had in our history. I also found out that my 5th Great Grandfather Gottfried Sebastian Oppelt was a missionary to the Indians. Also, that my 3rd great Grandparents dropped the Vinding out of their last name when they came to America from Denmark, so it was just Sorensen after that. Countries that I have Ancestors in are Denmark, UK, France, Germany, Norway, and probably others.

So that is all I am going to say for now I will write more when I can. Hope you have learned a little bit about my family.
