Hello everyone if it is your first time reading one of my blogs welcome and if it is not your first time here welcome back for another blog. Last week we talked about the foundation of how I started this amazing journey of finding out exactly where I come from and who was the ones that made me want to start this journey. In other news if you haven’t already read that blog go read it after you read this one. Now let’s get started with this week’s blog.
Week 2: Favorite Find
This week is about my favorite find but to be honest it was hard to just pick one because there are a lot of things that I have found that I could write about, but I did just pick one and it is the ancestor that I am going to write about. Before I tell you this person’s name I am going to mention what part of my family tree they are in. On my dad’s side of the tree, you would find Grimes, Attebery, Sorenson, Burris and so many other last names. And on my mom’s side you would find Nordlund, Starr, Miller, Davies, just to name a few of the last names. But the two ancestors that I am going to talk about is on my mom’s side under Starr.
Rev. Comfort Starr II
Comfort Starr was my 9th Great-Grand Uncle on My mom’s side of the family tree. He was born in 1624 in England. His parents are Comfort and Elizabeth Starr who are my 10th Great grandparents. Comfort came to the US with his father Comfort on the Hercules in 1635. He graduated from Harvard College in 1647 and in 1650 he was one of five fellows named in the charter of Harvard College. He was also one of the seven founders of Harvard University. Then later he returned to England and became a minister at Carlisle in Cumberland, England.

Comfort Starr I
Comfort Starr is my 8th Great Grandfather. He was born in 1644 in Scituate Massachusetts. His Parents are Dr. Thomas and Rachel Starr. He was a tailor. Why I am including him in this blog is that there is a house in Connecticut that is named after him. The house was originally built between 1645 and 1646. Comfort Starr bought it from the settle in 1694. The house is still in its primitive state. It is considered by some people to be the oldest wooden timber frame house still used as a private residence in the US today.

These two ancestors are just some of the people on the Starr Side and it’s the side of my family tree that I did not know that much about when I started this journey a few years ago. I found out during this journey that my grandmother Miki’s dad Cecil Martin Starr remarried twice more after he divorced her mom Viola Pearl Davies. So, in total Cecil was married to three different women in his lifetime. Viola was the first wife and they had just my grandmother. The Second wife Emilie Lucia Johnson died after 11 years of them being married. After she died Cecil waited a few years before he married his third wife who is Mary Lou Balaam in 1948 and had three children together who are my grandmother’s half siblings (Rebecca, Cecil II, and Hallie).

This is the end of Week 2’s blog of favorite finds and hope to see you all next week for Favorite Picture.
